CREATING POSSIBILITIES…IN BUSINESS; IN LIFE
At a national symposium in Washington,
D.C., in 2002, I had the tremendous opportunity to
experience the power of possibility! In our businesses
every day we can release great potential in ourselves, our
clients and customers and our co-workers. We do this in two
ways: by our presence and awareness of self and others.
The legendary conductor of the Boston Philharmonic Symphony
Orchestra, Benjamin Zander, the Friday a.m. keynote speaker
for 3500 attendees, inspired us with the fact that a
conductor makes music without ever making a sound! The
conductor’s role is to be a conduit for the music in the
orchestra musicians. So, too, you and I can be a conduit
for the song in others by releasing the power in others. We
can, by living with complete confidence in our ability to
make today a perfect day, empower others to be their most
powerful and alive!
One of the ways we can do this is by
giving everyone an “A”. Expect and develop in our staff and
customers the belief that they are an “A” gifted human.
Watch them grow into the complete work of art that is
waiting to emerge from within! As we encourage, complement
and positively instruct others with great respect and awe
for who they already are, we unleash in them possibility:
the possibility to work, buy and sell, mentor and learn with
great power and joy! Productivity, effectiveness and
prosperity come from the way we live our work moment by
moment.
One of the ways to attract more business,
success, and financial achievement is to believe we already
have it. This creates an openness and expectancy which
attracts clients and business to us. Another way to create
possibility is to remember rule # 6: “Don’t Take Yourself
Too Seriously”! As you make a mistake… let it go and look
for the lesson waiting in the wings. Mistakes breed the
best inventions. Welcoming mistakes as opportunities for
learning sets the tone for your co-workers and customers to
create and invent with your company instead of your
competitor’s. I wish you the joy of creating a perfect
life full of possibilities.
